Description:
The 1850 Journal of the Proceedings of the House of Assembly of Nova Scotia has the following.

"A Petition of Thomas Robson, of Sackville, N. B., Master Mariner, was presented by the Hon. Mr. Young, and read, setting forth—that from a long experience of the Navigation of the Bay of Fundy he had become convinced of the benefits that would result to trade in general from the construction of efficient Fog Bells; and that after serious attention given to the subject for many years past, he had at length succeeded in constructing a Machine in miniature for ringing a Fog Bell or sounding a Gong, which he was fully satisfied would answer the objects contemplated—that the Petitioner is desirous of obtaining a Patent for such Invention in this Province and New Brunswick simultaneously; and praying that an amendment may be made in the Law of this Province so that he, although a non-resident, may be enabled to take out a Patent here, and also that he may receive a pecuniary compensation for his services in the premises.

"Ordered, that the Petition be referred to the Hon. Mr. Young, Mr. Killam, and Mr. Card, to examine and report upon by bill or otherwise."
