Description:
The frame is solid. The main focus of the patent is the blade tensioner. It is a lever that folds into the handle.

Griffin's Nickel-Plated Hacksaw appears in 1891 C.E. Jennings (New York) advertisements in IRON AGE. It includes provision to rotate the blade in the frame as appears in the "upper" nickel plated example shown in the 2nd image.
