| The adjusting screw is located at the back of the adjustable jaw, close to the head of the wrench. This A.C. Richard patent was sold to Coes, but was not produced. It is cited in John H. Coes' Dec. 28, 1875 patent (no. 171,550).
Herb Page mentions this Richard patent in relation to A.G. Coes' wrench production on pg. 64 of "The Brothers Coes and Their Legacy of Wrenches." (2005) It is prominently cited in an A.G. Coes & Co. advertisement in the 1872 Worcester City Directory, along with 52,968 and 114,505. The aspect used is the wrench bar enlargement in the portion nearest the head. |
