Description:
The adjustable jaw has a pivot pin between the adjusting nut and the jaw segment. The adjustable jaw has a "roughened" face, an elongated slot to allow for extra play on the main shank, and a spring that holds the jaw in the "extended" position. The fixed jaw also has gripping teeth.

One known 10 inch example has smooth faces on both jaws; a 12 inch example has the pipe gripping teeth.
