Description:
The focus of this patent is the internal wedge in the movable jaw, the milled handle that moves it, and the spring which keeps the wedge in position and compensates for wear. The main bar and the other bearing surface of the movable jaw have fine teeth which are forced into engagement by the wedge, to hold the adjustment. This adjustment mechanism is also employed in Lee's parallel pipe wrench patent (no. 269,072).

Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" posits Russell Wrench & Novelty Co. produced the Russell wrenches based on the patent assignment.
