Description:
Blades or bits are contained in the hollow handle; a spring holds the pivoting end cap in position. A "conical" end on a spring-loaded plunger holds the selected blade in working position.

A known example marked, "MF'D BY BUELL BRO. CLINTON, CONN. PAT. NOV. 7, 1882" has the end cap, but uses a screw-clamped collet to hold the bits, as shown in patent no. 289,501.
