Description:
Improvements to patents to the same inventor dated 1859-01-11 and 1859-05-17, which used a mixture of emery, india-rubber, sulphur and olive oil. This new recipe allows the use of a much higher proportion of emery: 15 lb emery, 1 lb rubber or gutta-percha, and 5 oz sulphur. The ingredients are combined and then placed in molds under pressure, then baked. The key innovation here seems to be the pressure.
