Description:
"The object of the invention is to primarily fit the case of the measure to serve also as a mirror; and to this end the invention consists in making one plane wall or the cover of the case of 'looking-glass;' and in special features of construction whereby the silvered surface of the looking-glass is protected from injury by the moving parts..."

Edward P. Haff and John H. Walbridge were partners in Haff & Walbridge, sellers of stationers' sundries, especially inkstands. About the time this patent was issued he established Haff Mfg. Co., operating out of the same premises at 78 Leonard Street in Brooklyn. By about 1890, Haff & Walbridge had become J. H. Walbridge & Co. Haff & Walbridge was assigned a patent for a "hair curler and frizzer", 423,972.
