Description:
A classic slitting gage, this one in the shape of a plow. The adjusting wheel (under the handle in the patent drawing) regulates the depth of cut for the serrated wheel, while a thumbscrew on top locks the fence in place.

The slitting gauge was also patented in Canada as CA-11,286 and separately as a marking gauge CA-11,285. As the simpler and smaller marking gauge it was never marked and therefore often unidentified. See the last two pictures.
