| The specifications call this an improvement on Hood's May 20, 1879 patent (no. 215,456). In this improvement a thumb screw wedges a tapered block against a sliding jaw with a tapered back to hold the adjustment. The wrench as produced included a spinner handle on the axis of the clamping screw.
R.R. Rouse's 1879 machinist's wrench (the ad is shown in the DATAMP entry for patent no. 215,456) also resembles this patent. |
