Description:
Glenn S. Noble - patent attorney

The outer disc has an inwardly extending skirt with a notch. The notch engages the stub lever on the stub pin which houses a spring-loaded plunger that presses against the rocking pawl. The pawl rocks on a stub shank that transmits power to the driven member. The teeth on the pawl engage teeth cut in the inner surface of the barrel opening in the driving member. The entire ratchet mechanism is retained in the barrel by a spring clip.

The patent number appears on a SK 42470 1/2" drive reversible ratchet. The ratchet teeth are fairly fine -- the half-inch drive in the second photo has 50 "clicks" for one rotation.

The mechanism is an elaboration on Rueb's Nov. 20, 1934 patent (no. 1,981,526).

Sherman Klove Co. made S-K Tools.
