Description:
The drawing shows the pinion-shaped ratchet pawl in the right-hand position so as to tighten a right-handed screw. Note the flat spring that allows the pawl to slip on the return stroke. Reversal requires the selector to be pulled back before moving the handle sufficiently to roll the pawl to the opposite end of its recess.
