Description:
The 1853 Newfoundland Almanac lists a Samuel G. Archibald as a Notary Public in St. John's. According to The Practical Mechanic's Journal, Samuel G. Archibald of Pall-mall (London) was issued as a British patent registered on 1852-10-02 for "Improved mode of extracting or rendering animal fats and oils". We only found a couple of other persons named Samuel G. Archibald and it is difficult to believe that two unrelated persons of the same name were involved in refining animal oils. Therefore we presume that either these two patents were to the same person or they were relatives, e.g., father and son.
