Description:
Based on abridged specification in "Abridgments of Specifications," appearance in 1878 advertisement, and mention in "The Adjustable Spanner" by Ron Geesin: gripping surface on the handle can grip directly on round surface (such as pipe), or the flats of nut in conjunction with a swinging hook jaw, or a drill holder, wrench sockets, etc. in a swinging head.

Corresponds to "ECLIPSE" drill holders and spanners advertised by John Palmer & Sons of Birmingham.

The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #3,064 of the year 1877.
