Wikipedia biography of Henry Fourdrinier
Description:
This patent covers a continuous-web paper-making machine whose design originated with Frenchman Nicholas Louis Robert, who had patented it in France in 1799. Robert gave the patent rights to employee and co-developer Saint-Léger Didot, whose English brother-in-law, John Gamble, took out British patents and then worked with the Fourdrinier brothers plus Bryan Donkin to perfect it.
