Vintage Machinery entry for Bentel, Margedant & Co.
Description:
The primary innovation is a "loose or sliding face, periphery, or rim" for the idler band-wheel. The idea is to reduce the tendency of the idler wheel to act like a flywheel and cause the blade to buckle, as may happen when starting, or when the blade hits a knot. It is also supposed to help prevent tearing or wearing of the leather or rubber tire.
