Description:

The innovation is the combination of half-lap joints and dowels. The patent is of interest because Stimpson subsequently received patent 26,060 for a machine to make this joint; the machine was manufactured by A. F. Young of Otter River, Mass.

This patent was extended for seven years. In 1891 (after the patent's expiry) the machine was still being manufactured by G. N. Goodspeed of Winchendon, Mass.
