"Vintage Machinery" entry for New Britain Machine Co.
Description:
The patent includes the notch on the end of the ratchet handle, a box including a side cutout and fixed cover over part of the width, and the spring latch at the end. In operation, the sockets are slid in through the side opening, the ratchet slides down over the removable stud and swings into the box where a spring clip on the end engages the end notch on the ratchet handle to hold all the contents in place.

A known example of the set includes a top clip for hexagon extension; the extension is marked "PATENTED DEC. 12, 1922" reflecting H.H. Chase patent no. 1,438,900.
