Vintage Machinery entry for Cutawl, International Register Co.
Description:
This is the first patent for the "Cutawl" saw for cutting fabric, cardboard, wood, and other thin materials. Cutawl saws were very expensive but are still popular for making intricate, precise cuts that need little or no clean-up afterwards. Sign makers, prop makers, and tailors are among those who use them. See also patents 1,799,215, 1,949,509, 1,949,510, 1,974,642, and 1,989,120.
