Description:
The pliers has a hole toward the base of the jaw opening, combined with a turning stud on the pivot bolt. Used in conjunction with a hand vise, this tool would create a "lineman's splice" in telegraph wire.

The pliers appear in late 19th & early 20th Century catalog listings, and manuals for telephone and telegraph linemen.

The specifications differentiate these pliers from the pair covered by patent no. 130,778.
