Description:
This patent has to do with the thickness and shape of the auger blank. The upper third of the working portion is thicker than the lower two-thirds - the latter being convex on both faces. The middle to be about the same thickness as the upper portion, and thinning down toward the edges. Claimed to gain strength for the bit while providing additional clearance for the chips.
