"This invention relates to engraving, scribing or routing machines, and is particularly adapted to metal routing or metal plate engraving for the production and reproduction of a variety of predetermined and known figures and designs and for the production and reproduction of an infinite variety of confused and indeterminate lines and figures such as are used on bank notes or safety papers of various kinds."

This patent is of interest because the inventor also invented the first handheld router, patent 877,894.
