Vintage Machinery entry for Landau Machine & Drill Press Co.
Description:
This turret style drill press is unusual in that the chucks are all oriented vertically, which means that a mechanism must be provided so that only the active chuck is lowered. The market evolved toward designs such as the Burgmaster Corp.'s turret drill, which have the rotating face at about 45 degrees to vertical and hence permitting the entire head to be lowered to the work, which simplified the mechanical design.
