Description: |
| A button-setting pliers for split-shank buttons used on shoes and similar heavy fabric. The patent shows springs to hold the button in place; the tool has a swinging lever. The spring holding the spreading anvil provides sufficient resistance to allow the anvil to start spreading the prongs on the button; then the anvil is depressed into the jaw to allow the secondary prong movement.
The tool is marked "A. W. HAM'S PAT. NOV. 14, 82." Ham held several later related patents.
Canadian patent no. CA-18,023 apparently applies to the tool. |
