Description:
The patented feature is the shape of the arcuate tongue and groove interfaces of the two sides. The ribs stop short of the edge of the tool to reduce the incidence of stress cracking. The specifications refer to Manning's March 6, 1934 patent (no. 1,950,362), N. W. A. Jackson's Feb. 2, 1932 patent (no. 1,843,819), and F.H. Richards' Feb. 5, 1889 patent (no. 397,389), as well as British and Swedish patents. The patent number is prominently displayed on ChannelLock pliers manufactured by Champion De Arment Tool Company.

Patent No. 2,640,381 does not mention this patent, but essentially elaborates on the shape of the arcuate ribs.
