Description: |
The patent describes an adjustable tongs with a reversible jaw that has a cutter on one end and a pipe-gripping tooth on the other. The drawings show this piece as curved, and the specifications say it could be curved or straight. Early Barnes Patent Tongs cite this patent; but they actually correspond to Barnes' July 31, 1883 patent (no. 282,256).
M.E. Frog was the first manufacturer, Barnes Tool produced it after 1883.
Barnes also patented and produced a "three-wheel" pipe cutter (see pat. no. 282,435 & subsequent improvements). |
