Description: |
The "D" shaped loop conforms to the shape of a hog's snout; the extended "crutch" shown in Fig. 2 is optional. The tool is to hold a hog's head steady while applying hog rings.
Produced by Chambers & Quinlan as the CHAMPION HOG HOLDER. (Bering joined the firm in 1877). One known example is marked only with the patent date, and the tool was advertised in conjunction with hog ringers and rings also invented by A.L. Hill.
