Joel Havens "Vintage Machinery" entry for American Tool Works Co.
|
Description: |
Claim:
It is the object of my invention to provide a novel arrangement of counter-weighting mechanism located at the same side of the tool-arm of which the tool-slide has its guiding connection with the tool-arm and embodying a flexible connection between the counterweight and the tool-spindle, whereby the weight of the tool-spindle and counterweight are located at the same side of the tool-arm, for relieving those guiding faces between the tool-slide and tool-arm, which receive the end-thrust of the tool from the stress of the weight of the spindle and counterweight. |
