Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Atlas Press Co.
|
Description: |
In 1911 Gardner T. Eames had co-founded G. T. Eames Co. to manufacture his patent arbor press (see patent 1,038,543.) He parted ways with that company, which then changed its name to Atlas Press Co. Then in 1916 when this patent was issued, Eames registered a new business under the old name of G. T. Eames Co. and started manufacturing his improved arbor press. Atlas Press Co. sued to stop him from doing so, based on a signed agreement that future improvements to the original design belonged to them, and the court awarded the patent rights to Atlas Press. We don't know if they ever used this patent. |
