Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for D. K. Allington
|
Description: |
From an ad in the 1887-88 Polk's Michigan State Directory: "After a study of the Band Saw Mill for a number of years, with my long practice and experience as a mill and machinery designer, I have designed and patented a new and improved Band Saw Mill... My machine is constructed with a lower stationary guide arm, the upper one being adjustable to accommodate the depth of cut. These guide arms have journaled in their outer ends guide wheels which project out beyond the face of the upper and lower saw wheels, thereby deflecting the saw from a straight line between them, still keeping the saw in a perpendicular line between the guide wheels where the cutting is done..." |
