Vintage Machinery entry for Champion Blower & Forge Co.
Description:
Seen on a Champion model "BB" post drill. Also seen in a 1926 catalog from Champion Blower & Forge Co., labeled as "The Champion Never Slip Drill Chuck". The patent date is clearly visible in the illustration of the chuck. "The Champion 'Patented' Never Slip Drill Chuck is made of one piece, and is positively interlocking without a loose part to it. The interlocking feature of the Champion 'Patented' Chuck is a square shoulder, worked out of the solid metal, in which the flat side of the drill bit shank fits; thus locking the bit from turning in chuck. The Set Screw is countersunk, leaving no protrusion; meeting safety laws in all conditions."
