Vintage Machinery entry for Buckeye Saw Vise Co.
Description:
Saw set that uses a trip hammer operated by a foot treadle that releases the hammer, held by a pawl, when raised a specific height and is forced down by spring tension.

Known example marked "BUCKEYE" and PAT. JULY 12.10. An ad in the March 1910 "The Carpenter" solves the mystery of who, exactly, made this saw set. The ad is from the Buckeye Saw Vise Co. of Cleveland, and the illustrations in the ad closely match the patent drawing.
