Stan Schulz BRISTOL*S ROTARY WRENCH edited from Aug. 25, 1855 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
The wrench features several open end wrench sizes on a rotating disk, with a locking lever and pin to hold the selected opening in position. The patent received early notice with write-ups in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN and a comparable British periodical.
Known examples marked only with the patent date. Those examples have a sliding pin engaging holes in the rim of the rotating head -- a much stronger construction than a pin placed close to the pivoting center of the wrench head. |
