Stan Schulz AMERICAN PIPE WRENCH (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
The focus of the patent is the frame holding the adjustable jaw and adjusting nut. It is integral with the handle, and shaped to allow sufficient adjustable jaw movement to grip pipe, but not so much that the jaws could crush pipe.
The patent date appears on several slightly different pipe wrenches, either reflecting the company's ability to make minor modifications to meet customers' requirements, or the "American" company's sale to Warren Axe & Tool, and transfer of manufacture to Warren, PA in 1907.
6 sizes ranging from 6 inch through 24 inch are listed in an undated Whitaker Mfg. Co. (Chicago) catalog. |
