Description: |
The tool was produced as shown in the drawings, without the tubing cutter. It incorporated nut, pipe and tap wrench or buggy axle nut functions, depending on the size. Some are marked with the patent date, or Hartford Hardware Co. The original markings were very light and easily worn away, so most do not have any discernible marking.
A July 1902 IRON AGE notice provides the second maker's name.
Corresponding British patent GB-190102037 was registered January 29, 1901.
The tool is similar in form and function to Silvanus Hussey's January 20, 1890 patent (no. 444,937). |
