Description:
The patent mentions the actuating chain, a felt roller for lubricating the chain, a driving ratchet with teeth shaped to match the chain links and which allow the chain to slide in the reverse direction, a retracting spring for the chain, and the structure of the spindle which can slide from one side of the handle to the other depending if the action is to tighten or loosen.

The length of chain is sufficient to turn the socket a full rotation with each pull of the chain. The patent matches the SPEEDEE-RATCH PAT APLD FOR BEALL TOOL DIV. HUBBARD & CO. EAST ALTON, ILL. ratchet wrench.

Merriman's preceeding related patents include 1,903,514 and 2,290,197. He also had a series of patents for wrench sockets for spark plugs -- pat. nos. 2,294,193, 2,304,271, and 2,320,044.
