One known example marked "Robinsons Crank Wrench & Bit Brace Newark N.J. Pat. Jan. 26, 1875, Dec. 25, 1877"
One strange variant (see also Robinson's Jan. 26, 1875 patent no. 159,119) has a hammer poll for the crank handle, with the frame extended to form a claw -- the fulcrum point for the claw would "clash" with the knob for the jaw adjusting screw.
