Description: |
| From the abstract: "A nut wrench is constructed with a metal rod or bar A having one or both ends tapered gradually to a sharp - ended extremity. The tapered part is wound upon the cornered nut C in spiral convolutions B, which bind upon the nut during the operative stroke and yield in springy manner during the inoperative stroke." Corresponding U.S. patent 1,051,562 was granted Jan. 28, 1913. Trade journals of the period note an un-named French manufacturer; known examples are marked "PATENT POIGNE" or "PATENT POIGNE BREVETE."
Note: British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January.
