Description: |
The specifications describe the shank with threads on two sides. Turning the handle moves the adjustable jaw; the specifications describe a pipe wrench; the patent was used for the EVERGRIP pipe and nut wrenches.
Some are marked PATENTS PENDING, some have the patent date. Tool collectors assume Estes distributed these from Ozark, MO until some documentation is found to challenge the assumption.
update: Febr. 1924 IRON TRADE shows the EVER-GRIP pipe wrench; July 17, 1924 AMERICAN MACHINIST shows the pipe and nut wrench versions as produced by Ever-Grip Wrench Company, Chicago. A Jan. 1925 issue of POPULAR MECHANICS digitized by Google has a hand-written note attributing the wrench (the middle one in image 2) to the Ever-Grip Wrench Co. / 129 So. LaSalle / Chicago. |
