The patent is for the construction of an adjustable wrench jaw made from a stamped and folded piece of sheet metal, and an associated adjusting knurl and the threaded rod it runs on. An unmarked open end wrench made of sheet steel stampings with a similar adjustment means appears in a ca. 1930 catalog as "Handy Wrench" - examples are known.
Some known examples are marked PAT APLD FOR, or with the patent date; one known example with the patent date is also marked SEARS & ROBUCK. Park Metalware of Orchard Park, N.Y. produced several Zilliox patents -- see 1,491,942, 1,535,281, & 1,639,831. |
