"Vintage Machinery" entry for American Tool & Machine Co.
Description:
This invention builds on the inventor's previous patented centrifuge which was intended for drying sugar, patent 63,770 and reissued as RE2,845. The major change is to suspend the shaft from the bottom rather than the top. Like the previous patent, this one uses a spring to provide a yielding support for the spring so that it can rotate about its center of mass. This improved centrifuge was manufactured by American Tool & Machine Co. and was popular with textile manufacturers in dying, bleaching and finishing processes.
