Description:
This is a design for a V-blade for Fales' combination plane 254542. In this application Fales states for the first time in his four patents that he is a subject of the Dominion of Canada.

Fales does not disclose a purpose for the blade, but such blades are often used to start grooves in molding for other planes (especially hollows and rounds) to follow. They also can cut a relief on inner edges of a groove joint to facilitate entry of the mating tongue, or cut a decorative groove.
