Wilford C. Toles was a witness on this patent, and he was the owner of W. C. Toles Co., which is best remembered for their woodworking vises, and in their earlier years they made manual-training furniture for schools, including benches and desks. Toles subsequently patented a school desk design of his own: see patent 827,830.
