Description:
The movable jaw slides in a slot in the head; slots in the tongue of the movable jaw and main bar provide location for a connecting key. Friction between the parts holds the adjustment. The wrench is for holding drill stem sections to make and break joints.

The wrench is shown with a handle on one end, and connecting link for suspending chain, indicative of the size such tools had attained in the development of well drilling operations.
