Most of the patents prior to 1836 were lost in the December 1836 fire. Only about 2000 of the almost 10000 documents were recovered.

Little is known about this patent.

The USPTO database has the inventor listed as "Peter Petinos", and with a title of "Reeding and fluting, straight and spiral". There is an original hand-written specification by one Peter Pettinos of Philadelphia, but the patent is for an instrument for tuning a piano.
