Description:
The adjustment features an intermediate toothed bar which provides the base for the quick rack and pawl adjustment, and which can be shifted by screw adjustment of the handle. In operation, the major adjustment is accomplished by the rack and pawl, and final tightening by turning the handle.

The specifications and drawings show a variety of jaw surfaces and shapes, as well as variations in the shape of the rack teeth and pawl.

Improved by patent no. 533,049.
