Description:
The adjustable jaw is hinged to the shank of the stationary jaw; the frame holding the movable jaw and adjusting nut is pressed against the stationary jaw and shank by a heavy leaf spring. This would allow for a kind of ratchet action as the jaws would open on "reverse" motion.
