A screw-adjust open end wrench design. An unmarked malleable iron adjustable jaw wrench with wood handle (no. 444 in "Antique & Unusual Wrenches" by Schulz's) may be a realization of this patent.

The patent is noted in discussion of a patent application on pg. 674 of the Dec. 17, 1872 Patent Gazette (Lloyd vs. Engeman).
