Yard stick with two 45 degree angle bias bars. Purpose is to allow the user to measure goods (fabric?) without changing position or reversing the goods whether measuring from right to left or left to right. Manufactured version also incorporated two additional structural pieces perpendicular to the longer edges and are marked "J.K. SOMES & CO./SPRINGFIELD. MA/PAT.OCT.10.1876"
