Description:
A button-setting pliers for split-shank buttons used on shoes and similar heavy fabric. The tool includes a spring to hold the button in place, and a second spring to tension the spreading anvil.

Albert W. Ham had several patents relating to the tool; a known example of the tool bears markings referencing U.S. patent no. 267,342. The DATAMP entry for that patent includes a photo of the tool.
